Portia Lee James De Generes (born Amanda Lee Rogers; January 31, 1973), also known professionally as Portia de Rossi, is an Australian and American actress, model, and philanthropist.
She is known for her roles as lawyer Nelle Porter on the American television series Ally Mc Beal—for which she won a Screen Actors Guild Award in 1999—and as Lindsay Fünke on the American television sitcom Arrested Development.
Although there had been even rumors claiming NBC had discouraged the talented comedian from discussing her personal life on the hit daytime program, Ellen made sure to thank her girlfriend after winning Outstanding Talk Show Host at the 2006 Daytime Emmys by proclaiming: “Portia, I love you.” On May 16 2008, after the California Supreme Court overthrew the ban on same-sex marriage, Ellen announced on her show that she and Portia were going to make it official and walk down the aisle together.
Three months later, on August 16, the ladies wed in front of 19 guests in an intimate ceremony at their Beverly Hills home.
For work purposes, she would remain Portia de Rossi.
Three years later, Ellen and Portia faced the fate of all celeb couples and weathered the inevitable breakup rumors as reports surfaced saying a divorce was imminent.
De Rossi also co-starred alongside Richard Dreyfuss and Tim Allen in “Who Is Cletis Tout?
