In general, Minnesota's larger cities are friendlier to LGBT residents than its small towns. The city is home to East Central Minnesota Pride, an event that has been improving visibility of small town LGBT issues for over a decade.
In the past, the event has featured appearances from former Vikings player Esera Tuaolo and local bluegrass band Hey Lonesome.
Since 1980, people have been able to contact GLCS and obtain information about a large variety of topics relating to the GLBTQA community.
The services provided by GLCS are done in a confidential and respectful manner.
Many LGBT Minnesotans favor Duluth over the Twin Cities, for, while its gay community is not quite as large, it feels more like a cohesive group.
