James Mc Lurkin is looking to get a swarm of Advanced Low Cost Multi Robot Systems into the hands of students.James has been working on robot swarms for a long time.
Developers are using Code Sourcery's Eclipse-based IDE. There has been some work using Free RTOS but an r-one OS is in the works.
Software libraries for features like IR communication and 802.15.4 communication is available but not supported.
It is possible to use Zig Bee but that is probably overkill for most applications.
The heart of the robot is a 50MHz Texas Instruments Stellaris microcontroller.
The challenge has always been making it available to more people. A common platform offers the opportunity to exchange research.
